Description8 Railroad workers in the Lenexa, Johnson County, KS. Area. They were commonly called Gandy Dancers. This photo was a part of the 700 images taken by Edwin Albert Legler, Grandson of Adam and Eliz. Legler Circa late 1800's and early 1900's in the Lenexa area. He took many Lenexa Community Scenes and his 700/ negative and/or developed pictures were presented to the Legler barn Museum by his Great Grandson Ralph Emerson Walters' descendants in 1995 (James Maisch). E.A. was postmaster of Lenexa 1902 to 1915, 1929 to 1934 when Republicans were in office in Washington, D.C. E.A. was active in Republican Politics in the city and County. ......Author of ""A Dairy of a Country Lad"" ......Area Correspondent for the Olathe Mirror, a Republican JoCo weekly newspaper......Owner and Publisher of the ""Lenexa news"" for about 8 years....dist. in Olathe and Lenexa......Served as mayor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Lenexa. ......Owned Legler's variety store (Groc. Clothing, paints, etc. in a building at 9234 Pflumm Road, still standing in 2005... it was built in the late 1800's by his father-in-law, A.P. Williams. Officer, inc. treasurer of the Lenexa Protestant Cemetery, 8805 Pflumm Road for over 30 years.)
