Public CommentsMike Hendricks, November 2006: "The first house in the background is mine. The current address is 9233 Summit St., but it actually faces onto what is now 93rd Street and used to be known as West Elm. The address was switched to the Summit Street side in the 1990s so that the then-owners could put up a fence. Lenexa forbid having a fence in the front of the house, so the previous owners had the address changed to the west side (where there is no door). Anyway, you can cross reference this with your modern day pic of the house, as well as the original owner, Andrew Scherman. Also note, the other two houses in the background were torn down in the 1990s to make way for a parking lot adjoining Holy Trinity Catholic Church."

Robin Worth (Kansas City, MO) writes, "I have an even older photo of this store where the sign reads "E.A. Legler Staple And Fancy Groceries" I believe it was taken around 1909,with the proprietor Mr. Legler standing in front. At the time of my photo either the houses in back weren't there,or may be out of the frame."--April 4, 2008
